For our cycling tours we recommend the months of April to November. During this period the temperatures in South Africa, Namibia and along the Zambezi are the most suitable for cycling. Although Africa can be visited all year round, the summer months can be extremely hot, with temperatures rising to over 40 degrees – not ideal for a gravel adventure!
From subtropical to desert and tropical, Southern Africa’s climate is incredibly diverse and varies by region. Summers (December to February) can be extremely hot, while winters (June to August) are mostly dry and sunny, with pleasant temperatures for cycling. Spring and autumn offer the ideal balance of warmth and comfort, perfect for a gravel adventure.
