Namibia is the country for an adventurous road trip with endless roads through the most surreal landscapes.
Best time to travel
The best time to travel to Namibia is from mid-April to October, during the dry season. For wildlife spotting, the best time to travel is from June, when the vegetation is lower and animals are more likely to be found at waterholes. February and March are rainy months, but the showers are usually short.
Climate
The climate in Namibia varies by region and season. The south has a desert climate, where the temperature in the summer can rise to over 40 degrees. In the winter months it is pleasant during the day and can get quite cold at night. The climate is milder on the coast.
Recommendations
The lesser-known north of Namibia is great for an adventurous self-drive trip. Spot desert elephants in the unearthly rock desert of Damaraland. You will also find ancient rock paintings here. Etosha National Park is just as special, with vast salt plains and lots of wild animals.

Endless deserts with bright red sand dunes, the second largest canyon in the world, the Etosha National Park full of wild animals, the traditional desert people, the savannahs and rock formations of Damaraland. After a long day of driving on endless roads through ever-changing landscapes, you can relax in a luxury ecolodge, on a glamping or in your own roof tent on top of your 4×4. For desert fanatics, a walking safari through the Kalahari is a must. Here you can spot a modified big five: the gemsbok, springbok, Kalahari lion, eland and leopard. Enough to see!
Discovering the Epupa Falls
On the border with Angola you will find the impressive Epupa waterfalls. These consist of several waterfalls, of which the largest waterfall is no less than 37 meters high!

Namibia's Wonders of the World
Namibia has some special titles to its name. For example, the Namib Desert is the oldest desert in the world (read: about 80 million years old!). The sand dunes of the Sossusvlei are also the highest sand dunes in the world! The Fish River Canyon is the second largest canyon in the world. At number one is of course the famous Grand Canyon. Another number two spot: Namibia is the second least populated country in the world, Mongolia takes the first place. Finally: Etosha National Park is one of the largest nature parks in southern Africa. Come and see!

Meet Hans and Ansie and the community
Your Africa Journey works directly with local partners in Namibia. We always aim for personal and local relationships with an eye to the future. Like with Hans and Ansie, the owners of the special Mukuku Rest Camp. From this campsite you are part of the daily life of the villagers who wash their clothes in the river, while their children play in the water. Watch out for the crocodiles and hippos that also inhabit this river! Mukuku is a hidden paradise, a green oasis where you can spot many birds. About the birds and the bees: the social projects of Your Africa Journey
Sustainability is more than a buzzword for Jouw Afrika Reis. Of course, our trips have an impact. We do everything we can to make it as positive as possible. For example, we support various social projects to improve the lives of the local population. Like Honeybee Heroes, a project that allows our travelers to adopt a beehive in the Western Cape of South Africa. Thanks to this project, a woman without an income now has a job that allows her to send her children to school, and at the same time we help nature.
