The best time to travel to Uganda is in the dry season, from December to March and from May to October. The roads are then easy to drive and many wild animals are easier to spot. The rainy season has the advantage that it is greener and less busy at that time.
Uganda is located around the equator. The temperatures are therefore about the same all year round, varying by region and altitude. In the lowlands it fluctuates between 20 and 30 degrees. In the mountains it is somewhat cooler.

If you order a Rolex in Uganda, don’t expect an expensive watch. A Rolex is a popular snack made from egg, various vegetables and/or meat and is rolled in a wrap. Rolled eggs, or Rolex. Genius, right? Are you a fish lover? Then definitely visit Kampala and Entebbe, because here you can eat fresh tilapia almost everywhere. These cities are located near Lake Victoria, where tilapia is abundant. Do you prefer to be a bit more experimental? Then you are also in the right place in Uganda, because the Ugandans are crazy about fried grasshoppers! Especially in November, the grasshopper season, you will find stalls everywhere where you can buy fresh grasshoppers.
Uganda has a diverse range of small-scale and sustainable accommodations, suitable for every budget. In general, the accommodations in Uganda are a bit more basic than in other African countries, but you always sleep in places that have a special story attached to them. Think of a glamping in the rainforest or a homestay with the local population.
Besides gorilla and chimpanzee trekking in the rainforests, you can also make great safaris in other nature reserves. Think of the wildlife-rich Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you can encounter elephants, buffalos, baboons and tree-climbing lions. You have the wild animals in Uganda all to yourself!
