Best time to travel

The best time to travel to Botswana is from June to mid-November. These dry winter months are ideal for safaris, as animals gather at waterholes and vegetation is sparse. In summer, the rain can be so heavy that some places become inaccessible, and it is too hot for most travellers.

Climate

The climate in Botswana varies per season. In the dry summer months, from May to October, the temperature is between 20 and 30 degrees. At night it can get quite cold, especially in the desert. In the water-rich Okavango Delta the climate is milder. In the rainy season, between November and April, you can expect temperatures above 30 degrees.

Rivers meandering through grasslands, lush green islands full of wildlife and magical lagoons filled with water lilies: the Okavango Delta is not on the UNESCO World Heritage List for nothing.
